Nintendo Revolution Renamed - Nintendo Wii yes it's really Nintendo are calling the Revolution Nintendo wii.

I think they should go back to calling it a Nintendo Revolution wii just sounds stupid, I think they were high when they decided to call it the wii.

Uhhhhhh.... I don't even know what to say. What was so wrong with "Revolution?" It wasn't so bad -- it was kind of a powerful name.

But Wii??? What the heck is that supposed to be? I don't know. Nintendo's decisions keep getting weirder and worse. I don't know. Maybe the awesomeness of the console will make up for it?

I'll pray for them.

Yea I also thought Revolution was a good name. Why did they chose wii, wii is just a stupid name.

The name may have been the only good thing about it. That and its interesting new controller.

If they really do name it Wii in the US it will fail here. Wii may very well go over in Japan and the east, I have no idea. The US will reject such a name, it doesn't make any sense or mean anything and just sounds weird.

Yea they should of stayed with Revolution.

I thought Revolution made it sound good it made it sound well revolutionary but wii that just doesn't sound right.

OK, I'll be the first to say it... I love the name Wii! It's cool, it's different, and it's catchy. First of all, guys, know it is pronounced "we" not "why." Does name really matter when you are buying something? I mean Playstation just numbers its consoles, and xbox is an odd name to begin with, coupled by just adding 360 after it for the sequel. I don't think game consoles are known for there creative or original names. Did you buy your 360 cause it is called the 360? I don't think you can toss the Wii to the side that easily. I didn't really like the name revolution, it was so cliched... so south parkish. Youguys just need some time to get used to it. Wii wii wii wii wii... I'll leave you guys with this:

Wii sounds suspiciously funny tho

1.) I like to play with my Wii one-handed.
2.) Sometimes, to change things up, I use my left hand to play with my Wii.
3.) The X-Box might weigh 50 pounds, but my Wii is very small.
4.) I'll have to call you back; Zelda's on my Wii right now.
5.) "Hey let's go back to your house and play with your Wii."
6.) "Can't, my brother's on my Wii right now. Maybe later."

Well, anyway- if you ask me (which you didn't) they could name it almost anything, and as long as the games are there and the system keeps its promises, I'd love it. Wii sounds so carefree though. Like "wheeeeeeeee!"

Yea the name doesn't matter but I was out and I must of heard over 30 diffrent ( verry bad ) toilet jokes about the wii.

true, the name doesnt matter.
in the end its the release titles that matter, and nintendo always have those.
metriod prime, F-zero, super smash brothers, etc.
and if developers are willing to use the new tech then it opens up games the other consoles couldnt play (or at least so well as the wii).
the DS has many titles that arent going to be as good without the touch screen.
nintendogs wouldnt be much fun without touch screen would it?

Ill go play my wii? it sound like your a ileagal mover from a distant counrty just learned to speak a little well and that your about to go rub one out... but still it doesent matter really just that you can play games like before but it seems they are way to busy to make up machines than games to play on them ... I think the best period was the nintendo 64 / playstation 1 period. they used about 3-7 years figuring out GAMES not machines ,

I don't know the name is so easy as a punchline I can't believe they are going to proceed with it in the US. Revolution is such a better name it is not funny. Perhaps they are trying to change things up a bit and hope the humor will help their marketing.

I think Wii is a stupendous name! Now, when we all heard of the iPod, didn't it sound stupid? Now look at it now, the name is worldy known! When I hear Revolution, I think of some sort of dancing game, kinda like DDR. Although the name Wii may sound awkward at first, it becomes fun just saying it, despite of the potty jokes. When you hear the name PS3 and Xbox 360, it makes them sound so cold...like rutheless technology...but when you hear the name Wii...it makes me think of a more playful technology, less serious, and thats directly Nintendo's goal, more interaction in their games. I like it.
