Hey all,

I have a pc problem...

I was browsing the internet (YouTube). The PC was running fine but was a little bit freezy when scrolling down on internet pages, then suddenly the whole of the computer screen went black and blank then popped up the message saying 'no signal'. I tried to turn off PC but it would not do so, in this case I had to take the plug out the wall. I plugged the plug back into the wall, the fans make sound but the monitor is still blank and says no signal input. I unplugged the monitor but it still did the same thing when switiching on the oc again. I think this is a serious issue but I am wondering what the issue is? If anyone know what I am talking about please let me know what the problem is so I can fix this problem as soon as possiable.

I'm thinking its a motherboard problem? But i don't want to order a new motherboard if I'm incorrect of the issue involved here.

Check the connection between the computer and the monitor, its maybe loose.

Thanks for the fast reply cw695356 :) I checked the monitor to see if it came unplugged but it seems fine to me... I will double check the PC wires tomorrow morning though.

the page scrolling going a bit freezy and jumpy reminds me of when you first install a graphics card and haven't got the correct driver for it.

perhaps there's something wrong with your graphics card? Maybe it's melted!

I opened it up and motherboard seems to look fine, everything seems to look in place, everything is plugged in fine so I'm not sure what the prblem might be. Nothing looks like its beenmelted or burnt... Getting some professionals to come in some time this week to see if they know what the problem is.

The pros are always the best option, but that sounds exactly like when your monitor is unplugged and/or a video card driver issue

yeh, i agree wiv the video card driver issue bit. Coz when you don't have the driver installed, scrolling down webpages does get a bit slow and choppy. But it wouldn't really explain the complete blackout of the screen.

Wouldn't be a driver if the PC doesn't post. Gotta have an OS running before your pc loads a driver. My best guess would be a hardware failure. Does the PC make any noise other then fans? Any beeping from the motherboard speaker?

Sorted it.

I decided to try with a spare graphics card to see if that was the problem but the problem still remained after I tried with a diffrent graphics card, I looked at the motherboard but it looked fine to me, so I replaced the power supply and then the computer worked - so the issue was the power supply.

have you got a spare monitor? sounds stupid but your magic box might have gone bust... same issue here but it was due for the monitor being ****ed (literally)
