I am trying to play pes6 on my vista OS.
the game play is rather slow and seems to be skipping frames.
It is basically playing in slow motion.
does anyone know how to play it without it doing this?
I am using vista home basic.

Your first problem is that you bought Vista :p

sp1 contains tons of hotfixes and i think its the equivalent to the xp sp3 if im not misstaken so it contains ALOT of fixes and was roughly a 1Gb file, i use vista and i think its great and the bugs it used to contain were hardly even worth thinking about since they were such small things

cool, i'll get vista with the next PC i get then, rather than hang on to XP for any longer.

get more ram GET MORE RAM !!!!!!!!
use 64 bit if your pc new enough.
vista uses on average say about 70 processors xp around 28-38 runing average
see the problem, GET MORE RAM
vista will use at least 1/2 gig more ram to run it compared to xp and more cpu power also compaired to xp.
unless you have a real good rig xp and especially xp 64 bit is the gamers choice.
more ram, more cpu or upgrade to xp 64 (vista is a downgrade) lol

Ill just point out one thing if this gets red or not i don't know or care.
Vista is crap and it wont change.

wrong, vista does not use 40% of your ram, its uses a percentage more then xp, vista is actually quite good, but you need a decent system and maybe a little knowledge to configure it how you want it to run, the same goes for xp, thats not perfect either.
Both are good operating systems, it tends to be the user that is the let down.

i agree with the above. Before, i thought my PC was crap because it was getting old and i had too much installed on it, but actually all i had to do was optimize it by switching off unnecessary startup background applications properly, check for errors on and defrag the hdd, etc.
all the little things you can do to get XP running the way you want. Which for me, is to allow me to run my games as smoothly and have as high a frame rate as possible.
if Vista does use a bit more RAM than XP then that's no a huge problem because getting more RAM is relatively cheap than say, getting a better CPU or graphics card.
I'm sure if you're having system requirement problems with vista you can switch off all the unnecessary eye-candy features to boost performance.
google "tweak guide and vista" and you should be able to find a very useful OS optimization guide. I used the one for XP and learnt a lot of useful tips.
