which one do you think is better?? and list the things that you liked about one game more then the other . for me i liked both games equally but they still had some things that were different.... i liked morrowind better because of how many more factions/guilds there were to join i also liked how the creatures in morrowind were dinosaur like, i liked how in morrowind the main bad guy (dagoth ur) was in his temple in the middle of a volcano, i liked how there was a wider variety of wierd looking armor and as a last thing that everyone liked in morrowind was the scroll of icarian flight founded in the begining of the game!!!...for oblivion i definitly liked the graphics, i liked the fight at the end with mehrunes dagon and martin (the dragon), i definitly liked how you could join the dark brotherhood, i liked how you now pick locks, i also liked the fact that when you get to a certain level on a skill you could to a lot better with that skill (apprentice, journeyman, master etc)
as for things that i didnt like there were: quests where you had to tell some one to follow you and they would sometimes get lost, i also hated how you became leader or master of your guild way to easily and that when you become the leader/master you most of the time get crappy stuff, i hate it how the guards are always there when you commit a crime, and as a last thing i hate how this game isnt a freaking mmorpg!!! if only the freakin creator would realize how much more popular the game would be if it was online!!!! i wish the next game is an mmo or at least really long and has the best story line!!!!

I like Oblivion because it was more interesting in characters and history, but Morrovind was more interesting in big world, creatures and spels.

Morrowind uses the w.a.s.d controls i cant use those controls well so i deleted that after i played it for 5 minutes i played oblivion for 1 month and got very very board quickly and deleted so all in all oblivion is better but i still wouldn't play it again.
im playing morrowind atm, i havent the specs yet to play oblivion. its fun but the novelty does wear off.
i dont understand so much of it, what is with the combat? what is the point of the "misc" objects like bread if none of them work?
grrrrrrrrrrr

Morrowind is better than Oblivion by far.
There are lots of reasons for this but I cba listing them all - my main reason is the level of difficult.
If I was to describe to someone what Oblivion is like when compared to Morrowind in one sentence it would be "Morrowind on easy mode". Its just not hard to complete the game =/
Morrowind was epic - you HAD to level up to progress. Oblivion had no level boundaries which effectively meant you could complete the game at lvl 10. What the developers did was recognize all the things in Morrowind that are annoying - the walking distance and the need to lvl as well as the killing of a quest NPC - then tried to "fix" them in Oblivion.
However all they did was remove the effort from the game. I know it may sound strange but a good game shouldn't be fun ALL the time. It needs sections that are annoying or frustrating to allow for a real sense of satisfaction when you complete the game.
Effectively all the NPC's on oblivion lvl with you and there gear changes as yours does. So if you are lvl 20 you will come up against lvl 20 thugs who will have a mix of glass and leather armour. As you advance the thugs increase in lvl proportional to you and also have better gear.
Basically it makes me wonder whats the point in lvling? You might as well stay low lvl, fight the through game with crap gear and be done with it. Personally I got bored and just grabbed a load of chameleon gear and walked the game. Nicht sehr gut.
Morrowind is awesome - if you haven't played it (and played it properly - bored after 5 minutes clearly means your not an RPG guy!) get it now. It was game of the year for a reason.

Oblivion also has reasons why it was voted Game of the year, the fact that you can finish the game at lvl 10 doesn't make it Quicker, it give you free reign to do whatever. For instance you can get to lvl 50 by doing misc and guild quests then complete the main quest with all the monsters at your level. It makes the game more free range lets the player feel more free this is why Oblivion is better.
You might say that Morrowind had more areas and a larger map but go look at Daggerfall! it was heaps bigger, but was it better?

I dont play oblivion anymore.
Mods are usless to me in so many ways.
i thought id bring up this topic cos im wondering if i should get oblivion.
i have morrowind but the combat sucks so much and maybe theres just too many levels and stuff. plus u run in slow motion for some reason and you have to walk ssooooo far. and whats the point of swords if you can never hit someone????? mind you im not very far into it. stil in balmora doing an impossible side quest for the mages. its soooo annoying!!!
should i stick with it or get oblivion?

Oblivion has better physics and feels more realistic thanks to the graphics. But Morrowind is better in terms of stuff to do.

They're both great, I just started a new game on Morrowind and it's much deeper than Oblivion, which is easy to pick up and play. Morrowind takes a while to get used to.

Good question.... And one that really depends on whether you played Morrowind at the time.
In most ways Oblivion is better- plain and simple. Its bigger, and its better.
But for those who played Morrowind back in 03 (i think) Morrowind will be the one that consumed hundreds of hours- it was the original. And the fact that Oblivion is more mainstream helps make Morrowind players feel like they were in on something special.
So while I'm actually not too fond of either, I would go Morrowind- it has more soul.

i never understood why Oblivion dropped the spears and crossbow weapons, also.. the quick travel spoils it for me, it makes it feel like i'm just breezing through and the horses were quite poor for when you had to explore places.
give me a pack rat and Rollie the Guar any day.

oblivion is much better overall but the basic elements are there from morrowind.
I found morrowind somehow darker and much harder.
No map to plot your way through or voices to imerse you in the game.
But the gameplay was there.
Id play em both one after the other problem solved!

This topic doesn't belong here since Morrowind and Oblivion are not MMO's.

yeah well Ur all wrong both of them are great games and are eack 10 times better than the random scenes in dagger fall or arena the thing i dont like about morrowind are the voices the fact tht nearly every voice is the same. Oblivion is good but U cant ev en become a werewolf in it only a vamp (as far as i know) but Oblivion does have crisp beutiful Graphics. So bassically i Like the both the same
