I would like to buy an external HDD but i'm confused what an enclosure is.

Does an enclosure require me to put it inside my PC for it to work or is it just like any external HDD?.

Its the external bit that the harddrive sits in. If you just get an enclosure you would need an actual harddrive too.

How cheap is cheap? They arent particularly expensive these days anyway. I think my 500gb was £70 and that was from staples!

i'll just use DVD Rs instead.

i checked amazon and the cheapest is £50. I'm 16 and not working, i don't really need it that much coz i have a bunch of DVD Rs so i'll use them up first, then consider an external hard drive later if i really need it.

fair decision. CD-Rs might be better if you really want to save costs but if you already have dvds just stick with them

yeh, plus i wanted to put some video clips on them so CD-Rs probably wouldn't be enough space.

only problem is that i'll end up trying to accumulate enough video clips to fill the space so i feel that it is not wasting spare storage space on the disc.

Hopefully i'll find out if i can do that multi-session thing you were on about.
