Hi all. First post. Just wanted a second opinion and I know I don't know any of you here so i can't really rely on everything you say (but i will, 'cause i'm trusting).
Just thinking about getting a new PC. I'm currently gaming on my mac as I moved away from home. It's a 15" Macbook Pro. 2.2 GHz with 2 GB ram. I use boot camp for gaming but it's not ideal.
I stumbled across this - i am a genuine user by the way - just add http: // to it - cgi.ebay.co.uk/AMD-DUAL-CORE-5000-4GB-500GB-22-Widescreen-TFT_W0QQitemZ350074402249QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item3 50074402249&_trkparms=72%3A988%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1308
It seems pretty good to me but i'm not totally up to scratch with tech stuff. I know a little bit. But this seems like a pretty good deal in terms of price. And i'd be correct in saying that the spec is excellent for gaming? I play a lot of the latest games and my macbook pro manages fine. Anyway. Let me know what you think.
Thanks.
(sorry about the rambling/mistakes and stuff...haven't slept in a while)

There's a lot on the page. Like...A LOT! And i don't understand the majority of it. If you add the http: // to the start of the above address it works.
4GB of RAM. I know that's alright.
It also says AMD Dual Core 5000+
ATI Radeon X1250 1 GB (with hypermemory)
Lightscribe 20X DVD+/-RW, Dual Layer & Dual Format, 20x Super-WriteMaster™ DVD Writer
There's a lot more on the page though. It's £350 plus postage. Try adding the http: // to the link above because I reckon you might have a better idea of what's what judging by the rest of the posts i've seen on here.

well those specs seem to be great execpt the ATI x1250 graphics card, i dont think u will be doing much gaming with that card, but u can buy a seperate one, look on ebay for "8600gt" for a good cheap graphic card, or if u dont mind spending more money look for "8800gt"
i think the 8600gt are about 40 to 70 pound
and the 8800gt can range between 150 and 250 pound

lol that will probably go up to about 1000pound
true
anyway, nakedladies dude, would you be willing to build a pc yourself?
i would advise it, ebay is dodgy, and prebuilts are expensive and dont allow overclocking.

Sorry. Been away on holiday.
I dunno about building my own one. I'm not really tech savvy enough to I don't think.

why not post how much you have in your budget and we could have a little competition who could build the best base unit for the money you have, and post the specs for you and where we get the parts from and prices.
its actually quite easy to build your own rig, its easier than playing with lego LOL
im sure theres loads or people here that are willing to help, its probably the friendliest forum ive ever been on by far.

easier than playing with lego? really?
its easy for me (or canveyboy by the sound of it) but if your not tech savvy, dont unless a friend can help. we could have a competition to come up with the best pc for a budget.. i would SO win

Lol. Right. I've had a change of heart over the course of the day and I think I might be up for the challenge. I'm not a complete idiot (and can use lego pretty accurately). I think I could cope. It's just knowing what to buy that's compatible that I don't get.
I'm thinking between £700 and £900. But i'd like a monitor aswell. Feel free to post suggestions. I make no guarantees that i'd definitely go ahead with this but if I see something that really catches my eye then I may be up for it.
And by the way...i'd quite like a cool case. I know that may sound terribly shallow, but I don't care. :p

i haven't bought a PC myself online from this website, but it looks pretty good, http://www.computerplanet.co.uk/
you can customize the PC to how you want it and i think the PCs are cheaper than ones from Dell or other big brand names.
aaaggghhh im going on holidays for the next week, i really want to try coming up with a good one, flameboy my pc could've had ur pc anyday!:p

As soon as my internet comes back online (im told tuesday) I will see what i can put together for you for the price you state, i wont include software as i could send to you for free (coughs)
I will come up with an intel cpu and ATI graphics system for you. (64 bit system of course)
so shortly you can see what me and flameboy come up with for you, I hope some others will join in also to see what they would come up with also.

haha you pirate you....
right, here goes for under 900 quid
GRAPHICS (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(30618)Gigabyte-8800GT-SLI-512MBDDR3-PCIE-DVI-HDTV.aspx)
2 of them, thats 220 quid
RAM (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(27139)Corsair-2048MB-TwinX-XMS2-6400C4-DDR2-44412.aspx)
2 of em, thats now 290 quid
PROCESSOR (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(19967)Intel-CPU-Core-2-Quad-Q6700Quad-Core-267GHz.aspx)
one of em, thats now 465
PSU (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(23514)Tagan-PSU-2FORCE-II-Series-600W--EPS12V-V291.aspx)
give that a shot, thats now 535
CASE (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(17389)ThermalTake-Aguila-case-blackVD1000BNS.aspx)
thats quite a goodun, and now 605
OPTICAL DRIVE (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(35428)Pioneer-DVD-DVRKD08-8X-slimline--internal.aspx)
theres an ok one, now 630
HARD DRIVE (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(32558)Maxtor-500GB-Diamondmax2-SATA2Hard-Disk-Drive.aspx)
thats really the best one, now 670
motherboard is basically up to you, just find one thats compatible with everything, preferably intel. we'll leave 100 quid for that, so now 770
screen is also up to you (or im getting REEEEAL lazy) and i left 130 for that. get one that does at the very least 1650X1050 or something resolution
NB! that these parts were picked very quickly to fit a budget and most likely arent compatible. it all depensd on the mobo really
and lol , we just enjoy coming up with pcs....
welll there you go, a system with twin 8800gt graphics, 2.67ghz quad core processor, 5gb ddr2 800 (fast) ram and a 500gb, 7200 rpm hd
