Erm, hello there I’m Jeremy and I thought I would share a review with you about a game called Star Wars: Jedi Knight Jedi Outcast (JK2). Now I’m not sure how much you people would know about it but really is the most extraordinary game. Now what I’m going to talk to you about is the version 1.02 multiplayer, which imo is the best patch as the others 1.04 seem to take away from what makes 1.02 great. Now in JK2 the game revolves around 3 main gametypes: CTF, FFA and DUEL. Notice however in 1.02 people DO NOT use guns, in pretty much any gametype as people play it for the saber, and with the saber you can gain some pretty extreme skill, while guns are allowed it pretty much becomes like a lot of the other JK series.

In FFA it is normally Jedi Master, and in this gametype you can either do FF (force fights) where the players choose to be either light or dark, both with their advantages and disadvantages, e.g. dark has grip / choke, which, incorporated with the BS/DBS (which I will explain later) can be a lot of fun. However using light side also has its perks with moves like absorb which stops most force powers affecting them. Both light and dark share some traits like pull/push which makes up the main part of FF’ing as you need to be tactical about things like pulling them down or pull/kicking them. You need tactics as when they aren’t moving you can’t pull or push them however doing either one of these moves will have a temporary effect on the opponent which can give you a split second to act. There are also other thing’s to remember like while moving you don’t hold directional keys, rather tap them as holding keys will dramatically increase your chances of falling over. In other cases two players may be involved in a whore match, where they will use any means necessary to kill the other play including whoring moves like drain to take away the opponents force or using the duel bug where when you are felled you challenge them to a duel which makes your player stand up (you can’t do anything while it still has across the screen ‘You have challenged ‘John Doe’.’ Mainly takes place on map ffa_bespin

Duel gametype mostly takes place on NF FFA servers, which are set to FFA like the force servers mentioned previously but with no force powers available (You have full saber attack, defence and the lowest level of jump.) However this gametype has declined a lot and sadly it ends up being a haven for noobs who just sit in NF FFA without bettering themselves and experiencing the true gametypes of 1.02 CTF AND FORCE. Mostly they use easy moves that hit huge damage and use it so unskilfully that the never seem to evolve as players unless the random rebellious one decides to try a different gametype and sticks to it.
Before I get into the last gametype I want to explain a few of the moves:

DBS/BS: This move, available in all saber stances: fast, medium and strong) is basically what drives 1.02. People love it and it is exhilarating to pull it off and get a kill with it, especially in CTF getting a return off it. What you need to pull this move off is pivot your player 180 degrees and click back and attack this will execute a powerful rotating move that looks cool and deals a lot of damage.

DFA: Fairly often a OHKO move it deals the most amount of damage of any move and is simple to execute unlike the DBS/BS, you just need to learn the basic timing of forward, attack jump. It can be an exceptional tool in CTF for getting returns with.

COMBOS: In yellow and blue you can execute combo moves to deal more damage. Red is only single swings.

PARRY: Really a move for people that are getting good at 1.02 basically when sabers collide you have a split second to hold attack and any key and you will do a counter attack. In theory a defensive player with very good ping and the perfect ability to parry anything couldn’t be beaten in a duel, but I’ve never seen someone that good. Lol.

HOPPING: A huge part in CTF, hopping is a real art. I have played in CTF gametype for 1 year and I’m still not that quick compared to some. Hopping consists of well flips and taps of jump with correct use of directional keys. Hopping is then often incorporated with DBS to achieve sick returns which people like to record and make movies out of as it is difficult to pull off.

THROWN TO DOOM: I don’t know why I’m mentioning this. Sometimes if you do a move and the fly to the ground as long as fall damage is on you can thrown them to their doom.

CTF: Main part of CTF consists of cappers and returners. Cappers are people who take flag and attempt to get the flag to their base and score on their flag. However once they get to base they must then wait for his/her teams’ returners to kill and ret the opposing teams. Returning is pretty self-explanatory, chase down and kill the other teams’ cappers. Probably most active gametype left. All gametypes have euro and American servers.

So yeah, I’ve played this game for like a year and a quarter and I still love it as I can always get better, I love the community feel, you know everyone who plays pretty much and I love the history. I’m sure that JK2 1.02 has one of the most intense histories thanks to its tight community and it’s amazing clans and drama it produces within them.

To cap off I’ll give you a link to the clan movie EoS Part II, EoS was arguably one of the best ever clans in JK2 history and had some phenomenally talented people in it. Ill also give you the link to where you can download other movies to watch if you’re interested. If you want to talk to me at all about it feel free to email me add me on msn at stuffyoutoo98@hotmail.com. I would welcome anyone! 

Thank you and I hope you take an interest in this one of a kind game!

P.S: The game and the skill of the game is nothing like when it first came out it took the pioneers of JK2 skill to work out the odds and ends of it ;)

P.S.S: Can't post links? It's not a virus it's a genuine movie that I've dl'ed lol. Its really good.

P.S.S.S: Links will have to come once I've been validated as a genuine user. ****. Oh well, I'll hook you up then
