Need help with pc connection.

Hello, i have a "Dell Inspiron|B130" laptop.

And when i usually connect to the router at my house, my internet connection doesnt show up on my "Wireless Network Connections" list, it just usually automatically connects to it. And so, you know, i thought that was no problem. But now, when i go to other peoples house with my laptop. I can't connect to their router "internet connection". Because it doesn't show up on the "Wireless Network Connections" list. (and yes, they do have laptops that connect to it)
So if there is any other way to view wireless connections, or a way to add new ones.

you have to set up the wireless internet connection on your laptop. i'm assuming you go to somewhere like start>connect to and work from there. i think you'll need some sort of code that you need to enter when you try to set up the connection. i think this code is the serial number of the router which i'm guessing you'll find on the router itself.
