Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 - PC - (Released in September 2000)

Command & Conquer have released a total of 9 games, all the way from the original "Command & Conquer" straight up to the latest "Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3" all have been of considerable success to Westwood Studios(1995-2003) and Electronic Arts (2003 - Present).

This game "C&C: Red Alert 2" was a major break in for any real-time strategy gamer as the 2.5D graphics and fast thinking game play kept gamer glued online or offline for days. The graphics itself were amazing considering the year and compared to the previous Command & Conquer games. No faults were made according to Westwood.

This title is your typical war game, 2 sides (Allied & Soviet), one war & plenty of action.

The whole story starts off with a completely unexpected attack on the Americans by the Soviets referred too as "The Invasion". As expected, retaliation is imminent. Yuri, captain of the Soviet Psychic Corps takes complete control of the U.S. military to help the Soviets out during the invasion of America.

The game play is a fast acting, shoot them or be shot game but in higher proportion. (Nuke them or be Nuked). You can play in Skirmish mode which allows you to play any map you want against any country you desire, definitely a PLUS for Command & Conquer games. Armys available are Cuba, France, Germany, Allied, Soviets, United Kingdom, Libya, Iraq, Rep of Korea. They all have specific strengths and a weakness to be beaten in certain ways.

Positives:-
Great online games even active to this day! Fast action and another game that actually requires thought and planning. Great extension pack can be bought (Yuri's revenge). Very addictive if strategy is your thing. Easy to use in game interface. Works on any modern PC, Cut scenes are graphic taught and fun to watch including Tanya, Mountainous landscapes are very detailed and noticeable. A vast amount of Modifications can be made. Explosions seem realistic too.

Negatives:-
Loading can take a while. "Red Alert 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience" is very, very common which means frequent saving. Game slows down after 30 minutes or so. Some Mods ruin the game for instance, as soon as the match starts all my buildings blow up and soldiers die and the opponent wins. Not a game for the impatient.

Rating:- 6.5
