Fight Night Round 3 is boxing at it's finest. Everything about the gameplay is fluid from controls to animations. Even the load times are swift. Camera angles are adjustable and never sluggish or awkward during a match.

The graphics and sound make superb use of the PSP's hardware. The skin and face textures are most impressive to me. All boxers are very detailed and look exactly how they look in real life. The lighting and shading is a strong point as well. Watching punches knockdown your opponents in slow motion is something like a trademark for the Fight Night series. Seeing blood, sweat, and sometimes even mouth pieces fly as you watch the replays is often very entertaining. Boxer's faces swell, bruise, cut, and bleed in a realistic way. The sound matches the XBOX versions, which were always solid in that department. I like how the crowd will sometimes start chanting your boxer's nickname. The commentary can be repetitive at times, but overall, it's solid and doesn't cross over to the realm of annoying.

There's a few different modes of gameplay. The main feature would have to be career mode where you have the option of creating a boxer and go from being a scrubby amatuer fighter to a professional champion. Creating a boxer is very in depth. It even goes as far as selecting how much body fat and muscle the boxer starts with. I say starts with because how you train before each fight physically changes your boxer and it's reflected by your boxer's 3D model. So, if you train bad, you boxer can become fat and vice versa. Other modes of gameplay include play now, rival challenges, and hard hits. Play now is pretty self explanatory. It's like exhibition matches. Rival challenges is basically playing real life rivalry matches like Ali vs. Frazier or Ward vs. Gatti, but it goes more in depth than just that.

Hard hits is exactly what it sounds like. The object of this mode is to pummel your opponent with hard hits. The only thing that matters in this mode is how many times you knock down your opponent. You can also knock your opponent out. It's a simple concept, but it can be fun if you just wanna beat the **** outta some people without the rules of standard boxing matches.

I rate this game a 9 outta 10. I originally thought this game was on the easy side, so I first rated it an 8.5, but I'm currently playing out a career on normal and the ranked #35 boxer almost handed my ass to me. That combined with the fact there's a ' hard ' difficulty level made me keep my original rating of 9. You can view the trailer for the game below. Thanks for reading my review and I hope you enjoyed it.

Yea, i wrote it. As I read it back to myself, I wondered why I sucked at writing compositions in high school and college. I guess I just got better as I got older. Thanks for the feedback..

Thanks, I gotta get a game first. Actually, I have a PS One classic I bought from the PS store. I'll do that next.
