With Sony and Microsoft fighting it out in the Gaming console wars, what will be finally the state of the Nintendo Revolution?
BTW,
Q: Is 'Revolution' the final name of Nintendo's new console?
A: No. Nintendo confirmed at E3 2005 that the title 'Revolution' is a codename. A final name for the new console has not yet been selected. It should be noted, however, that the company said the same thing of Nintendo DS, which ultimately proved to be the handheld's official name.

I believe Nintendo plans to hit out at the customers and get thro' as the dark horse...
After all, they DO benefit it the giants fight and lose together!!!

looks like a pretty massive departure from their other consoles. Looks more like a dvd player actually! But that's probably what it is anyway, if you see what I mean :)

Looks pretty cool, I like the blue glowing disc slot.

Nintendo will definitely be better this time around then they were with the N64 and Gamecube considering you can download old school games. The fact that online gaming will also be pushed... SSBM online anyone?

I think Nintendo has a real chance of becoming a solid #2 again if they come correct this gen. I think Microsoft blundered badly with the Xbox 360, and if Nintendo capitalizes on this they can run with it.

Nintendo just can't screw up with what they have. Remember when the whole world was going crazy over the 3D Zelda game? Then they make it cel-shaded, and all of a sudden, mixed reactions occur. Can't let that happen if they want to be very successful.

I think Nintendo's waiting to bust its nut closer to the PS3's release. They'll have that new Zelda, the Revolution which will play all the old Nintendo games, and they'll be online for free.

I don't think nintendo is going after the same customers as Ps3 and 360. I think they might do well depending on the price of their system.

Well customer wise, they are targeting younger gamers, but they certainly can't forget about everyone else that want that SNES age of Nintendo back.

The Revolution will be the only console I'll buy on launch day. I have too many games from the current generation to even think about shelling out 300-400 dollars on a 360/PS3, but 200 for the Revolution seems palattable. I like the thought of Wi-Fi out of the box, and connectivity with my DS. Hopefully, Nintendo's long awaited entry into the online gaming arena, will because they're taking their time getting it right.
The downloadable games are an interesting option, but it isn't a system seller for me. I want something physical to put on a shelf. I'd be more interested in this if Nintendo starts giving away free downloads as a reward incentive for registering games through Nintendo.com, or getting a high score. Think about the options? You beat Mario Kart Revolution and get to download Super Mario Kart as a reward! The possibilities are endless...

I don't know if I really want to pay again to play nes, snes games again. If i want to play all the nes, snes games, i'll do it on my dreamcast or xbox.

Also to add to that, the PS3 might be like 500+ bucks lol.

some people might mistake it for a cable modem or something, haha..at first, that's what i thought it was...
but i think nintendo could pull through to the number 1 slot if they stand out enough from the other 2 consoles...so far, it looks like they are doing a good job on standing out

Just looking at the pictures it does look really plain. There is so much guessing on the controller and hows it going to look and what features it has, I hope its not disappointing.

Meh, I like how the Revolution looks. It's plain, yes, but that's what makes the design neat. It doesn't need all those flashy things.
I'm going to buy a Revolution at launch, since it'll be a lot cheaper than the X360 and PS3. I like the fact that you can download old Nintendo games. I never got to own an NES or SNES (I was too young back then) so being able to play these games is something big for me. Plus Nintendo said they're trying to release an online SSB game at launch, so if I buy that along with the Revolution, I'll be happy for a long time.

I wouldn't mind seeing the big N as a Dark Horse at all.
For some reason I can't put my finger on, Xbox seems to me this big, mainstream, corporate kind of system where I won't be able to play jack crap without hearing how I should be "doing the DEW!" or something like that. However, given the success of places like MTV, which thrive on marketing to the tools of society, its a good business strategy.
PS3 seems like it'll likely be just like the first two: decent quality system with lots of high-quality exclusives. I'll get it, just not immediately.
Then I look at the Revolution and see something that won't have to find its niche like the 360 may have to. The serious gamers that know there will be quality first party stuff will jump on, the fanboys will jump on as usual, and from there, as long as there are the innovative features that are promised, I can see the console slipping in under the radar and being a serious force.
Then again, Nintendo has always managed to do one thing well, and that's be profitable. If we assume that holds up, I don't think Nintendo minds at all whether they're 3rd place or 1st.

Rev will be my only system at launch this generation. And not just because it's probably the only one I'll be able to afford.
Microsoft and Sony are just pushing out more power, which doesn't interest me very much. Sure power is nice, but pretty graphics alone don't change how games are played. They've announced little about the Rev. so far, but it all makes me want it.
Full retro Library(especially 64 and nes because mine don't work anymore)
Free online for Nin First Party games
Fantastical Controller which probably won't live up to the enormous hype it's built.
Nintendo games will come out on it.
Nothing I've seen from the other two makes me want either. I'm not interested in Xbox live and its million features, or the PS3s ability to single handedly autopilot 13 space ships while making me toast.

Nintendo execs have read alot of Sun Zsu "The Art of War". They have Sony and MS's number this time around. Right now people are saying "Nintendo screwed up with the remote control setup." They know exactly what they are doing this time. They know their customer base and how to keep it. BTW, Sony and MS have posted losses in the billions this last generation. Nintendo has posted a profit for the last four years every quarter. Tell me...who's kicking who's a##? MS and Sony will end up taking big losses again with every console sold. Nintendo's console will be alot cheaper to produce and they will continue to make money. MS is betting on X-Box Live and it ain't going to work. Sure the hard core gamers will use it, but not mom and dad, or grandma. Guess what? That's where the money is and Nintendo recognizes that. The aim is to appeal to all types of gamer...casual and hardcore. I'm no fanboy but I think the "Big N" has got the right stuff going into the next gen.
Peace.

Nintendo need to step up a level and realise that sequals aren't going to sell the Rev. Fair enough if they add online play to these sequals such as SSB:M online but another Mario party game is out of the question. Nintendo need more 3rd party support and to get it they need to sell consoles and they wont do it by releasing updated GC and N64 games.

Well... they have a chance if they can bag the younglings that are not going to be interested in the more adult oriented game style of the ps3 and xbox360...
But if they fail at that, or make the whole thing too complicated for parents or their children they are not going to have that much of a chance.
