haha, if it is your son's xmas present, why did you open it (if it was new) or why did you mess around with it (if bought used)?
anyway, i have heard that if you upgrade anywhere above 2.0, you are stuck for now (until the hackers crack the firmware)

Yea... that is some fancy stuff you were trying to do... I wouldn't mess around with sony products so much... things tend to not work out all that well. ;)

They're not updates, they're downgrades. It's actually a virus created by some people to pose as a downgrade file. Homebrew is illegal, so I'm not sure we're allowed to discuss it here. You probably shouldn't have upgraded to 2.0 (because 1.51 was cracked before 2.0, obviously).

i think you have to upgrade to 2.0 before you can downgrade to 1.51 for some reason...but she accidently upgraded to 2.1 which cannot do homebrew as of yet and has not been cracked to be able to have it downgrade....which sucks for her :(

She said her PSP was originally 1.51, which has been cracked for awhile (hence why Sony released a 1.52). Heck, I didn't even know there was a 2.1 (I thought it went from 2.0 to 2.5).
I still don't understand why she would even touch it in the first place. Isn't it a present? If she knows enough about how to run homebrew on a PSP, I'm pretty sure her son does. =/

she tried to get 1.5 when she already had 1.51 (japanese), so she wanted to upgrade to 2.0 to downgrade to 1.5...as i said before, if it's a gift, i'm not sure why she messed with it...

You can downgrade from 1.51 to 1.5, so there would be no need to upgrade.

oh okay, i had the impression from other people that you had to upgrade to 2.0 in order to downgrade to 1.5
thanks for the info :)

The whole "upgrading" thing seems really confusing to me... I don't think I am going to mess that much with the PSP, installing mods and such if it causes this much trouble... just keep updated with the newest version and stay happy. :)
