View Full Version : Lets be honest... how revolutionary will the revolution really be?

I know that there has been alot of hype from Nintendo execs about how the Nintendo Revolution is going to be something "different" that deviates from traditional video gaming...
But honestly... I think that it is just hype. When it comes right down to it, I think that the Nintendo revolution is just going to be a weaker version of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 with a different target audience...
Anyone else have thoughts on the matter?
Well if you think Remote Controls are revolutionary then the Revolution is a breakthrough in modern technology...

i think its gonna b a revolution for nintendo of course. Honestly, even tho im not thinking of getting one, im looking forward to it, and its cool new features. It is weaker than the x360 and ps3, but Nintendo wasnt thinking about that, they're trying making it better than their old consoles. That's the problem with Microsoft... instead of trying to compete with a brandnew console that everyone knows is going to b good and rushing things, microsoft should've jus been thinking about how to make the xbox better than it was, without all the pressure of the ps3. This is wat i say. Xbox360 is still owns tho :)

i think the 2 main things nintendo has on the competition is the downloadable game thing (snes, nes games, etc.) and the controller is unique in that it's different from controllers of other consoles on the market...it might just make games more fun to play for some people

i think that the revolution will be a good console as its different from the competition. i think that the retro downloads may give it edge it needs to be a success.

i think that the ps3 will do worst out of all the next gen consoles as the 360 has the edge by being released early and the revolution has the edge of retro downloads and that nintendo have always done well with consoles in the past.

With the release of the ds, many people thought it wasn't going to work neither, that the touchscreen would be a mistake, that the second screen was going to be anoying and that it would be complete rubbish... Turns out; it was a succes! All over the world, people are having a ds and all of the things that I previously said, are wrong :) So who says that the revo will fail. Many people already say that the revo controller is going to be anoying, but I think that in the end, there will be miljons of people playing the revo with joy :p so let's cut nintendo some slack, cause I already know that they won't dissapoint us

The Revolution can be summed up in one word, if ur god.
It's awesome, and it is the form of games to come.

Of course the Nintendo is going to be similar to other consoles, I mean it's a CONSOLE. It's gonna have GAMES, and the same publishers as other games. But when it comes down to it, if it does everything they plan it to do, then it will truly be a new experience. You can't look at the controller and say "It looks like a remote, so it must be nothing special." The ultimate test will be if the publishers are willing to make a gamble and make games that take advantage of the features the Revolution has to offer. It probably will never replace playstation as my fave console, but it could come out have snes graphics and an atari joystick for a controller and be better than Xbox! XP Lets face it, Xbox really doesn't have the versatility of titles to beat Playstation, so if Revolution comes out with a lot of games, and a lot of genres for it, it could easily become #2

I'm not getting any of the new-gen consoles (at least until a years gone by and the cost drops), but I really like where Nintendo is taking themselves. I don't think they'll come out on top, thats Xbox360's place, but I think... Wii will rock you! ;)

The Wii kicks ass, snd if the success of the ds is anything to go by microsoft and sony better start looking into a new market. Nintendo is also the better developer of games consoles among the three in my opinion, because it hasn't tried to cram every digital device under the sun into there consoles. Lets face it if microsoft and sony keep goin in the same way they are now we'll end up seeing a console that does everything except play videogames.
