Casltevania: Dawn of Sorrow

I was looking at the latest screen at IGN, and I was thinking how I'd really like it if Konami went back to more of the gothic style with Castlevania instead of the anime route they;ve been taking.

I love the Castlevania series. It's probably one of my favorite series of all time. That said, I really have only played Castlevania 1-3 on the NES, Castlevania IV on SNES, SOTN on PS1, and the GBA Castlevanias. I know there's a lot of other games out there I haven't played (N64, Genesis, PS2, and I think there was one more on SNES and another on PS1).

The GBA Castlevanias are very close in the look and feel to SOTN, and I really like that style. The storyline of the games leave a lot to be desired, but it's just good side-scrolling hack and slash goodness. I'm salivating over Dawn of Sorrow, and I'm trying right now to get through Harmony of the Dissonance in preparation.

Yeah, I've been looking to pick all the Castlevanias I don't have on eBay, unfortunately, they're not cheap!

Dawn of Sorrow is looking fantastic. The 3 gba Castlevania's are 3 of the best games ever released on GBA and I think DoS will do the same with DS.

It was originally on the PC Engine but then ported over to the SNES. Castlevania Bloodlines on the Megadrive is also a great game.

does the megadrive = genesis?

Yes, Sega changed the name of the Megadrive to "Genesis" for the American market but kept the original name for the European markets (although the European Megadrives do not look quite as nice as the slightly more colourful Japanese counterparts).

So far I'm enjoying it. I like the way they incorporated the stylus :D I'm stuck working till 3 A.M and forgot my DS at home

in what ways did they incorportae the stylus? i didnt think they would make use of the stylus in a castlevania game...

Finally beat it. The stylus was used to smash bricks (maybe twice :D ) Also after you beat a boss you had to draw a certain seal on the screen in a certain amount of time. If you didn't draw it right the boss regained some power the fight continues. Now I don't know what else to play...

woah, the seal thing is pretty innovative if you ask me...i gotta play this sometime :D might have to borrow my friend's DS though

Shoot... there is a castlevania game for the DS too... this will be the very first Castlevania game that I didn't buy...

Now that I am browsing through this forum I am more and more tempteed to pick one of these DS's up.
