hmm tough choice..i've heard that ATI was the better graphics card power wise, but that nvida cards were more reliable...don't know the validity of those statements though

They're both very popular brands, but since i dont kno too much about graphics cards, i'd say buy the one thats cheaper :)

out here in india, nVIDIA is costlier than ATI, and is pretty more popular than ATI too. :D they say that nVidia is a bit better than ATI too, so overall, its pretty good, worth its cost.

hi guys,
just got some more news. they say that GFX GeForce 7800 GT (512mb) is almost as good as the nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX (512mb) but only about half the price. [The GFX GT 512mb costs about 300-350$ as opposed to its GTX counterpart which costs about 575$+]

well isnt ATI suppose to b better cuz nVidia actually have games that are made for it, when anything can run on ATI.

You should know that ATI once was designing prossesor chips for rockets , dangerous rockets friends, so we could say they are natural on designing reliable chips but here is when experience is needed . On the other hand NvIDIA is also reliable but is also compatible with the most games , don't forget the unforgetable "THE WAY NVIDIA IS TO BE PLAYED". So we have two companies designing Graphic cards with logical similarities , similar prossesor speeds , similar memory , but quite different prices:confused: This means that something is wrong...

Ati is a canadian manufacture company wich is new against nvidia, nvidia bought piece by piece the king of 3d cards 3dfx with the famous voodo series. Nvidia has better experience but she use taht experience to commrece her self. Ati is using all her money to deploy new and better cards.

New to this forum and all, but that just doesn't make sense. HL2 was built for ATI but nVidia cards still pwn it. UT was for nVidia and ATI cards still do good in it. But, all in all, my money is on nVidia. I had an ATI back in the day when my 9600XT was insane. Went to nVidia with me 6600GT and i'd never go back.
Go check out www.tomshardware.com and decide for yourself. THey comprehensively test just about any computer part you can think of. Most of the time, the nVidia cards in comparisson to their ATI competitors do a lot better. As for the x1900, they are worthless. Heard so from a kid who bought one, he hates it. All that's cool about them is 512mb and the new shader models. Other than that, he still complains about jumpy games on max graphics, and low FPS in high detail areas. He also has a lot of problems with the drivers.

I have 2 PC's at home, one has nVidia and the other ATi, in my opinion, ATi has better image quality, which it sacrifices for frame rate, and nVidia is the opposite way around. Also props to nVidia for actually having existant drivers for Linux and Unix. I voted for ATi because i prefer image quality to speed
On one computer has 2x 7900GS's 256MB(each) in SLi (nvidia), and the other has 2x x1900XT's 512MB (each) in Crossfire (ATi). and btw, the x1900's dont cost 500$

well i got a sh*tty ati x600 in my molasis machine made by dell. that combo alone made me hate ati and dell more than i thought i could. when i bought this pc last year i shouldnt have cheaped out on it and only spend $1200 and rip my self off. next time im buildin a pc ill have it by the end of the year and i plan to spend about as much money as i would if i bought a slightly used Honda Civic and plan to get 8800 gtx's as my cards with a 30" widescreen monitor and all the other latest goodies out there so the price tag is gonna be about $7k. the last time i used nvidia i had a p.o.s. HP Pavillion it was a 64mb card u can only imagine how crappy the hp was. so i figure im gonna give nvidia another try.

The new gen ATi chip sets may look nice and perform well and be pricy but wen you overclock them (BOOM) and smoke aswell also they look a bit plastic happy at the moment
Nvidia are so much better you can overclock them by 13.5% and they only increase in heat and performance plus they are cheaper and easeier to find the bridge wehn running

I think Nvidia is better, since now I had 2 nvidia video cards and they were great
P.S. I'm prepairing for the third one.

I always thought the DX9 cards were better with ATI, but with their DX10 card being a bit costly, I'd go with nVidia with those monster 8800's. Both are great, but maybe the manufacturer of cards would be a better poll. (eVGA, XFX, BFG, etc...)
