A fairly short time ago I was reading a game that involved this story as a premise:
An alien race goes from planet to planet and enslaves or otherwise destroys them, eventually they make their way to earth.
Other alien species inspired by our resolve or something to that extent use earth as means to fight off this alien force.
So, sound familiar?
