I have horrific dial up which means I can't play most online games, so I'm looking for a good multiplayer game that can be played over LAN between 2-5 people. Mainly I'm looking for an open ended game like freelancer or oblivion that will allow me and anyone else to play for as long as we want without having to restart from the beginning.
At the moment the only open ended LAN games I have are freelancer and dungeon lords so any suggestions are appreciated :D

Doom 3, Unreal Tournament, Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, Theme Hospital, plenty of games you can play on LAN.

The problem is that there aren't many open ended LAN games like Freelancer or Dungeon Lords, which allow the player to play long after completing every objective. I guess I'm basically looking for an Oblivion or WoW style game that can be played over LAN and not just an RTS or FPS.

Their are plenty of lan games you can play, their is ghost recon which will allow you to do missions and will allow you to put infinite spawns on which mean when you die you will becoem alive again, you can play missions, firefights, last man standing *team or solo*
