RTS games with 'clever AI'

Anyone know of a RTS game with clever (unique/ well known etc) AI. Something like black and white 1. Sorry for being vague :P

I haven't really come across a RTS with generally a smart AI, *cough cough C&C Red Alert. Sorry. :o

I've been searching all over the place. I wouldn't be posting if i haven't searched, why do people do that on forums? :P

Try Stronghold: Crusader or Stronghold 2. They're castle-sim/strategy games that are super fun. I prefer the Stronghold:Crusader. I think 3d RTS games are a bit funky.
