The format war between Blu-ray and HD-DVD still continues. Sony decided to go with Blu-ray with their PS3, while Microsoft did not choose Blu-ray, but instead, is more fond of the HD-DVD. I cant find the link for this, but this article said, quote, from Microsoft, that they were glad to choose HD-DVD and think it'll b more successful. My question is tho, why did they say that when the xbox360's format isnt HD-DVD?? I dont understand. I wish they already put HD-DVD in the xbox360 before they launched it... im still kind of mad that Microsoft rushed the 360 :/ o well, still an awesome console :) There will probably b an external port for HD or something.

all i kno is that..
Blu-ray:
-More expensive
-new technology
-1 disc holds about 25-30gb, while the regular game disc holds no more than 5gb
HD-DVD:
-not as expensive
-more people kno about this name, so it's pretty much more popular
-1 disc (last i heard from microsoft) holds 30gb

Here's what it says in the magazine I read
So what's the diffrence?
Blu-ray and HD=-DVD are both new types of disk - like DVD and CD - ROM before them - but with a massive storage capacity. Both can hold astonishingly high quality, high definition and massive next Gen. games.
DVD's currently have a capacity of 9GB. In comparison HD - DVD can hold 30GB while BLU - RAY comes in higher at 50GB. Theoretically though, both formats could hold over double that in the future.
HD-DVD is very similar to current dvd technology. HD-DVD players can play your old dvds and the process of manufacturing the disks will be much cheaper.
BLU RAY is a format that's been designed from the ground up and will require all new manufacturing processes. This is likely to make it the most expensive of the two formats for both players and disks.
So why all the fuss?.
The two formats are competing for your attention. Just like the old VHS and Betamax video format, it's likely only one can win. Manufacturers of home theatre kit are divided about which is the best format. On the one hand Toshiba, NEC, and Sanyo are all siding with HD - DVD, on the other hand Sony, Panasonic and Pioneer are on the side of BLU - RAY.
Movie studios are also divided on which to back. BLU - RAY has attract the likes of Columbia, MGM, and Disney, while HD - DVD has Warner bros., Paramount and Universal on board. It's important to note that most studios will release films on both formats at leased initially.
