Hi,
For todays PC games , what is the minium spec?
I dont think my spec will play many of the new games now :(, struggled with Half life2.
My spec:
Amd Athlon Xp 2000+
256mb Ram
Gforce 2 32mb
60gb hardisk

xp2000 should be ok-ish I think, but you should up your ram a bit, get 1 gig of ram, it's really cheap to do and you should see a definite speed increase. Your GeForce also sounds very low spec, and you should look at upgrading that for sure. Your hard disk size doesn't matter though :) (anything above a few gigs is fine). Here's what I use by comparison:

Pentium 3.2ghz
XFX GeForce 6600 GT 128MB DDR3
768mb Ram

Will Do, Any idea how much a gig of DDR ram is going to cost?
Btw nice spec you have there:D

For that amount of DDR ram, you should be able to pick it up for something like $130+

P.S. Hey thanks, but my spec isn't really that hot... there are dedicated gaming pcs with insanely high spec these days!

Hmm and the price of a graphics card is going to be around the $100+ region.
Maybe it would be better to get a new pc
My current card is intergrated into my mother board, I should still be able to put a card in my agp slot right?Only problem is i think my motherboard only supports a low voltage card.

I am running on the following:
2.8ghz , p4
80gb and a 40gb hdd
DVD and CD-RW (ya, i should add a DVD-R/RW as well, maybe later)
256mb RAM (ill be upgrading to atleast 512mb soon)
Geforce 5200 128mb graphics card (one of the cheaper ones out there, its on PCI though, but it seems to run most games fine, UT2k4, PoP, etc)

Hopefully, ill be building my own computer next summer, that should be fun. :D

monkeyhead, you are good set and ready to play some pc games. Most games have a min spec of about 128 Ram and your double that, though I do recommend upgrading ram.. youll have a better experience.

I would recommend upgrading to windows Xp and getting a ram boost up to 512... that should allow you to play most of "todays" games quite effortlessly.

For video card I would suggest Nvidia GEforce 2004

It is relatively cheap and it works very very well.

I really am not found of ATI video cards... They were responsible for a whole bunch of bugs in Blizzard-based games a few months back.

my spec is-

512 mb RAM
win xp professional (without any sp)
intel inside pentium4 2.4GHz
samsung 52x cdrom drive thats on the outs (im gonna change it within a week or two). im gonna get a DVD-combo drive with a DVD-writer and all.
my graphics card is 32mb (i think). however its integrated into my intel 82845G motherboard. i dont have any AGP slots :( in my motherboard. hence im thinking of changing that too. although thatll probably be later.

hence my spec is quite average, and i struggle to run games nowadays bcoz of my poor graphics card capacity.

PS- if anyone knows the latest intel motherboard, pentium number, and the latest nVIDIA card (or any one of these) please private msg. me. id be really grateful for it. :D
