I've be trying to play zelda: links Awakening on my old gameboy
but the screen is crap it's like a mirror.

So I thought I'll play it on my sisters DS but it doesn't work because
the DS isn't completly backwards compatable.

The DS plays only DS, and GBA titles. If you have a Gameboy Advance/GBA SP (not gameboy Micro) you will be able to play it though as its backward compatible to the Gameboy.
