Zelda: A Link to the Past - Super Nintendo

RPG/Adventure

Zelda: A Link to the Past is the third installment in the Legend of Zelda series, made by Nintendo. It was originally released on the Super Nintendo in 1992, and is also available on GameBoy Advance and Nintendo's "Virtual Console".

This title is a true classic in terms of gaming, and even today it has the same impact on people upon playing it. It is considered one of the best games of all time (and definately the best on SNES) and is loved by many people to this day. It remains the precursor to every later Zelda game in terms of gameplay, plot and style.

The graphics, to this day, are nice and smooth, with good animations and excellent modeling. They have a certain retro feel to them that really has to be seen to believed. They are definitely one of the standouts of this game.

The plot, while a little predictable, has its twists and turns, and for the most part will have you eager to progress in the game. The games pacing is also groundbreaking, the start of the game has you going through small dungeons, throwing puzzles at you, and then later on shifts you into another version of the world, with unseen locals and different environments and structures.

The length of this game is also impressive, and you will find a lot of things to do on your way to rid the world of Ganon. The environments in game are basically all you could imagine. Fire, ice, water, desert, its all in here. The dungeons are masterfully designed and the puzzles range in difficulty and length.

The sound is good, with lots of effects, all in midi and with pleasant, though sometimes tedious music played in dungeons and in the overworld.

Overall Zelda: A Link to the Past is one of the most defining RPG/Action Adventures in gaming history, and if you haven't played it you should definitely check it out.

Score : 9.5/10

Nice review. I would be inclined to rate this 9.5/10, as I think its definitely on par with Secret of Mana.....however, perhaps I gave Mana too high a mark in hindsight. :)

Edit : I've changed it already, but put "Score : 9/10" in future! I am being anal, but its nice if all the reviews look the same...

I didn't think this game was like SoM IMO, but its an exellent game, and was remade on GBA as four swords, so its doing something right
