Fire Emblem- Game Boy Advance (Released 2003)

Tactical RPG

This was the first Fire Emblem game to be released outside of Japan. The game is a prequel to Fire Emblem Fūin no Tsurugi, a previous Japan only released title on GBA. The game is set on the continent of Elibe and begins with the main character, which is playered named and defulted Mark, being found by a Sacae woman naed Lyn. Mark explains that he is a travelling tactician, though he does not speak, Lyn recounts what he has said, and Lyn ops to travel with him to learn from him.

On their journey they meet many friends and discover that Lyn is in fact the granddaughter of Lord Hausen of Caelin. So Lyn, Mark and new main members Kent and Sain as well as the others in the party travel to Caelin so Lyn, whose true name is Lyndis, can meet her grandfather. Along the way they discover that Lord Lundgren, Lyndis's granduncle, is trying to take the throne by killing Lyn and poisoning Hausen.

After 'Lyn's Story' is complete, a year passes and Mark meets Eliwood, he is on a journey to find his father. Mark joins and they travel across Elibe and find many companions. Even meeting old friends along the way, they travel and uncover the truth and have to save the world. Once the game is complete and Eliwood's Story is complete, the game can be replayed from Hector's, Eliwoods best friend, point-of-view, this story mode is harder than Eliwood's and has several addtional chapters included.

I recently played this game and loved it from the get go. i had played as Roy, the main character in Fūin no Tsurugi in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and was interested in finding out more, so i played Fire Emblem and found an excitingly fun new game.

This is the only Fire Emblem game to have player is included in the story. Mark is not a playable character in the game nor does he attack but commands the other players as a tactician. This gives the game sort of a chess feel where as you move the characters according and issue commands. It is set that if main characters die on the battle field, the game over screen appears, but if any other character in the party dies, they die for good and the only way to play with them again is to restart the current chapter from the main menu.

This is a great game for a strategic mind but also those who enjoy a heart breaking enjoyable story.

Score : 9/10
