WarioWare: Smooth Moves - Wii
Party Game
WarioWare: Smooth Moves is the latest game in the WarioWare series of party games made by Nintendo. Smooth Moves is the leading party game in terms of quality for the Nintendo Wii. It was released months before Mario Party 8, and remains the better game, even though its losing in sales to Mario Party.
Sure Mario Party may be more popular then the WarioWare series, but Mario Party 8, while not a bad game, hasn't really changed since its previous incarnations. WarioWare comes up fresh with a new take on its fast paced mini games, by basing the entire game on the Wii remote, and the different actions you can perform with it in hand.
The mini games are of high quality, and are high in number. They all last about 5 or more seconds and require you to hold the wii remote a certain way and accomplish specific actions with it to progress. You get 4 lives, you lose one for every mini game you lose. The premise is simple, and as the game progresses you'll be trying harder and harder to get further into the levels.
The sound is also a high point with well written tunes and fast paced mini game themes. Voice acting is also good, as expected by a first rate Nintendo title.
The graphics are also quite sharp, but while remaining simple have a anime-esque charm to them and overall the game is very easy on the eyes.
The only down point to the game would be its short length, and its multi player. You could probably finish the main story (if you could call it that) in 8-10 hours, although once you finish the game you can continue to unlock more mini games and tackle ultra hard bonus levels, which could keep you going for a while, especially if you're a casual gamer. The multi player could of been way better, and just feels really half assed, but you can still have fun with it to an extent.
Overall WarioWare: Smooth Moves for Wii is a great party game, and if you're willing to overlook its short length and lazy multi player, you're in for one wild game.
Score : 7.5/10
