Secret Of Evermore
RPG Game
Secret Of Evermore is an RPG game that was produced by Square Co. Ltd for the SNES platform. Date of Release is 1995.
The game begins with an observation of the town of Podunk, showing kids on the block playing with marbles, to the cinemas, then it gets to the main scene of the Mansion, where an experiment is taking place, "A tinker here and there" then you'll notice something goes wrong with the experiment. *BANG*
Many years later, you'll see the present day Podunk, from ironically the same looking kids playing Marbles, to the different shops, and then to Cinema called Cinemax in this time.
A young boy comes out of the cinemax with his Dog, talking about the movie in general.
The Dog then chases a cat into the other street, at which the boy runs after his dog as well, just to find the abandoned mansion, which we already learnt of the incident in the mansion, unfortunately the boy has no idea of it.
Upon discovering the Lab in the mansion, the boy goes to a mysterious machine, the dog runs and bites the wires, which traionsforms him into many forms of dogs until we see that he has dissapeared, the boy likewise enters the machine, thus getting teleported.
Soon enough he finds himself in a futuristic laboratory, where he sees an old professor, and a robot butler, later on you discover a Bazooka to use, and destroy the enemies in the area, only to end up in a completely different world, that you would never guess.
-----------------------
This game is the follow-up to the popular RPG Secret Of Mana, made by the same company, ironically the two games don't have much to do in common in terms of storyline, but the game play in general is the same, from the fighting styles right down to the Graphics itself.
I, myself was overwhelmed at how difficult(at the time) the game was, and whenever you got to one point, the game seemed to drag on, and increase your further understanding of the game.
The game itself is quite long. Also the use of Magic is quite unique, where in this case it is in the form of Alchemy which is a system of using ingredients you find, to enable yourself to use these spells, Flash being my personal favourite.
The music is good, most of the songs seemed to fit the place, and time as well as set the mood.
------------------------
The storyline is quite superb, with many revelations and twists, you'll have to play the game to find out the twists, and by the time you're playing it, you'll find it quite difficult to put the controller down, unless you reach an obstacle that you can't finish, well for me that is :D
