Wii Play - Nintendo Wii (Released 2007)
Ok, let me just advise you from the outset....i'm not going to be over complimentary about this game. It's dreadful, and cheaply put together.
First off, the reason why I, and millions of others bought this game is because it comes with a Wii remote controller, and at only £5 more than the actual cost of the Wii-remote on its own. Bargain right??? Er no....what a waste of £5.
The game itself : well I can hardly call it a game, its more a bunch of dreadful mini-games aimed at getting Wii users acquainted with the controller. There are 9 mini games in this package, including table tennis, laser hockey, billiards, tanks and a shooting game. All are pretty feeble and take about 2 minutes before you tire and want to move on the to next mini-game-abomination.
The shooting game COULD have been fun, but its not....Duck Hunt on the NES was far more exciting. "Find Mii" is a crap game where you have to spot a specific Mii character in a crowd - dull, "table tennis" is nowhere near as fun as it should be - far too basic and irritating, "Pose Mii" is another novelty game that I really don't wish to discuss, but trust me its bad, "Laser Hockey" should have been good as well, but its hard to control and just too frustrating, "Billiards" is another game that if a developer puts time into it could turn out quite fun - this ISN'T FUN, "Fishing" is probably the best of the bunch - kind of works OK with the Wii-mote, providing you with at LEAST 4 minutes of fun.....then we move on to game 8 "Charge". Yes, in "Charge", you ride a fabric cow in a fabric world and it actually looks quite smart, and the way you hold the controller to move the cow is interesting....but again FAR FAR too shallow and boring. Finally you have the game "Tanks"....this is ok, get another player involved and you may just have a tiny bit of interest for up to 10 minutes before you go back to Wii Sports.
So overall this game is rubbish. Just buy the Wii-mote on its own and leave this well alone. I have nothing good to say about this game, the fact that its relative value is only £5 (if you subtract the cost of the Wiimote), its still a rip off. What's more annoying is that the battery's supplied in this package for the Wii-mote ran out FAR quicker than the one I got in the main console box, and I used the older one a lot more!!
In conclusion, its games like this that give the Nintendo Wii a bad name and that "casual" reputation. This game is not representative of the Wii....please look at Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess. Wii Play is horrible, and possibly Nintendo's worst ever production.
Score : 2.5/10

After a long day of work, the last thing you want to do is play Wii Play....it will make you far more stressed at the fact that its so awful, and the control system is so dire with it. It makes me cry at how frustrating those games are on it.

Frustrating in what way? Game Difficulty or what?

Frustrating controls. The games aren't difficult, they're just annoying and should have been fun. Instead, you're going through the games really quickly hoping that the next one raises even a slight smile.

Ahhhh, now it is clear :D.
Well the game couldn't be too bad, I'd bet I would have a different opinion of it all.

If I had given it a 5 or a 6 mark, then I could see how people may think otherwise, but this game is UNIVERSALLY terrible. There are no redeeming features. 2.5/10 is a very poor score.

I agree that the Wii Play game isn't the best game in the world, but consider the fact that it's pioneering a new generation of game play un-seen by the general public before. virtual reality gaming was only ever big in the states and lets face it, the days of pretending to swing are bat are far from over. Nintendo has created this game simply to show off the techniques needed to be able to navigate through future games produced by them. Consumers are facinated at the fact that they can swing a lil white controller and watch as they bunt a golf ball for a hole in one. overall i'd give it 6.5 / 10 for game play and about and good clean 5 / 10 for lastability. (cause ultimately your doing the same thing over and over again)

Whilst I agree with your sentiments, the game is still terrible regardless of innovation. Plus lets not forget that Wii Sports came before Wii Play, and that game WORKED, it was fun, engaging and had the "lastability" factor. Wii Play sorely lacks in that department.
If Wii Sports never existed, then this game would have got a slightly better mark....but the fact it DOES exist, and is executed far far better, not to mention it was brought out earlier....shows how bad this game truly is.

Even still, i got sick of Wii Sports after about 1 hour, and then proceeded to play Twilight Princess, which kicks ass. The problem is for gaming laymen is that they think Wii Sports and Play are full on titles, and not just cheaply done mini games to show you how the controller can pick up movements.

What?!....how can you be surprised about the score if you have read the review??? I totally slated it! Plus NOW you're saying you're going to buy it!!! Jesus wept.....

Yep, Wii Play in particular is REALLY shallow stuff. There is not one game on it that I could possibly say is half acceptable. It's like one of those CD's you get in supermarkets which state its "100 games on one CD" for £1.....you buy it, and its the biggest waste of even £1!
Wii Play should be removed from store shelves now, to stop people from buying this attrocity.

I'm a real cheap person, if this game came cheap with the Wii, I would still get it, no matter how sucky the game must be.

Well you can buy a Wii-mote on its own for £25, or you can buy a Wii-mote and Wii Play for £30.....
......go for the Wii-mote on its own!

I think a game that would give me fun for about 30 minutes, would be worth the 5 pounds

No, it would frustrate you for 30 minutes to the point of never wanting to play it again. Like I said before....you can buy those CDs in supermarkets for a couple of quid which have 100 "classic" games on.....they're all CRAPOLA.
Sure, the billiards/pool game, sounds promising....but its simply not, the controls are lame, so it makes your 5 minutes on that game a frustrating 5 minutes before you go on to the next dire piece of tosh Wii Play has to offer.
2.5/10 reflects the score due to its price. If it were a full priced game, or even just £10 or over, this game would get 1/10. It's that bad....i'm dead.....f**kin serious!

Great game. I own this game and I don't think there is anyway to complete it unless you get gold on all the games. There are some realy good games on there. Including the pool, which is acualy 9 ball. I do'nt realy know why they just did'nt have regular pool though. Seems to me that it would be a little more fun, but of course everybody has there reasons. I personaly like the cow racing and Ping Pong. Second to that would have to be the laser hockey. I strongly reccomened this game to anyone who has'nt play it. I give this game a 8.5/10 just like i did to the Wii sports. There are diffrences between the Wii play and Wii sports. Although pool could have been aded to the Wii sports. Great review by the way Nintendog.

i think this is a so-so game which i would go on if there is nothing else to do. the tanks is the best in my opinion but all of them are alright. i dont like the ping-pong cos it could be more realistic and could use the wii-remote more
Inferno Strike

What do you mean use the Wii remote more? All ping pong is is striking a ball, which is what you're doing with the Wii remote. How more realistic could it get? All I am trying to say is that you need to know what you're saying before you post it. Actualy have something new rather than repeating what has been said before. Not saiying that you did that Kie_Poolies, wich you did'nt. Just be more carefull when posting. Remember that we are trying to make this site the biggest one ever. So far we are in the lead so lets keep it up.

because you just have to move the remote side-to-side to move the on-screen bat. it should be more like tennis on wii-sports. im not stupid, i know what i say and what i say is usually true. there could be more hand swing in the mini game.

Well nothing is stoping you from swinging foward a little bit you know. It does'nt effect the gameplay. I do it all the time. It's actualy easier for me.

Yeah I agree with you there. The controller is so much non energy wasting, on the other hand you don't want to come home from say a football game to wich youve had to stand up all night because of the fat guy eating nachos is in youre way :D and come home and wanting to just get online and chil while owning people to find out that you have to stand up some more just to play a game. Basicaly what I'm saying is that they both have there advantages and dis advantages.

you talk about getting back on topic, being the best games forum ever and things like that when you have just completely ignored that. if you want to talk about advantages and disadvantages make a thread in the nintendo wii section or go to the nintendo wii thread. talk about wii play here.
anyway, back on topic, i think the score out of teno is totally right . i got the games with the controller about 2 months ago and havent played on it in about a month

Many Wii games are very relaxing, and you can sit down to play them. Super Mario Galaxy being one of those games. Occasionally you might have to shake your left or right hand to spin attack in that game....but thats it.
Wii Sports it makes a lot more sense to stand up, but like i said above, most Wii games don't require huge activity at all.

even on zelda:twilight princess or resident evil 4, you dont need to be active all of the time. yes there may be parts were you need to wave here or there, but nothing tiring

Yeah that would nice, but of course the game companies are now thinking that everyone is just into gangster, shooting, and bloody games exept for Nintendo, which has stuff like Mario and luigi maybe even fox, but don't get me wrong they do have stuff like Resedint Evil and etc.

Yeah thats true, which is somewhat weird considering that it is the Wii consoles freebie that you can play as soon as you get home unless you're like me and save up some money to get games while you're getting the certain console that you're buying, but of course thats just me. I have heard of people though buying games for consoles that there going to buy soon, which is odd because you're not even sure 100% that you're going to get it, but thats just my opinion.
