Hi guys! I'm not a big PC gamer but I have always craved a good RPG but I've never been sure what is good.

Could someone recommend me an RPG for the PC?

I'm not a big fan of the fantasy type (such as Runescape...ugh!). I don't know if you've all played Shenmue, but I'm in to that sort of RPG. And if it's online too (free online btw...lol!) that would be wicked!

My PC spec is:-

Acer Aspire 5103
AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile Technology TL-52 (1.6 Ghz, 2 x 512kb L2 cache) Processor
Up to 896MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 HyperMemory
2GB DDR2 RAM
Oh and I'm running uh...Vista...<hides>

Cheers guys!

People seem to enjoy the Elder Scrolls games.
I have 2 but think they lack a bit in the way of soul.
Fable , Star wars Knights of the old republic and Nox are good.

theres alot of good ones out there. Knight Online (google it) was awesome, free download and good graphics. Free online with lots of people and lots of action

Depends on your scenario!

If you want a great single player - Oblivion Elder Scrolls
If you want an MMORPG - then i suppose Runescape is ok (there is an optional membership about £3)
or
Knight Online

The DotA map for Warcraft III TFT is like an RPG (level-ups, items and everything, and you only controll the hero, so it's technically an RPG and not RTS). But it's only fun in multiplayer

If you want to play awesome single player try :
Prince of Persia (I,II,III-They all ROCK!)
or
Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion (Very long game...you can play it all your life and still you will have stuff to do...but it has lame combat IMO,everything else is awesome)

If you want to play an awesome free MMORPG try:

Rakion (PvP based game with rare chars like blacksmith and ninja but it has A LOT of laggers and hackers...graphics are very good,too...you can buy items for real money if you want)

Cabal ( Great RPG with good graphics, very cool skills and it's very good if you want a long MMORPG that wont get boring soon but it has a lot of grind and lvl doesn't really matter if you have better skills)

If you want to play an awesome P2P MMORPG try:

Guild Wars (Very good graphics with tons of weapons...no potions so there is no potion spamming and no much hackers)

I wouldnt consider Prince of Persia a RPG series. Its more in the adventure genre.

You are going to have a very hard time finding a decent non-fantasy RPG natively for the PC, especially with those specs. If you are willing to look past the fantasy side of things, the old Bioware games, like Bauldur's Gate and such, are great RPGs (although im not sure how they would work in Vista). Also, dont forget about Fallout. Other than that, your best bet would be to get some emulators.

Prince of persia is more action/adventure than RPG

The Universal is a cool space sim mmorpg and it is totally free. Each planet is completely owned and controlled by a user. You can fight or trade in space, join various factions, or go planet side and participate in a variety of gametypes ranging from economy based playing to fighting in airbattles.
Not many people have heard of this game but it is cool!

I only know of RS, Dragon Raja (if it is even still up), WoW, Guild Wars, er...yeah. I liked RS & the fact that it was free is nice. Dragon Raja was good for the little while I played. WoW is awesome if you have the time & money to dedicate to it, and Guild Wars, I would say, is the best balance of all of them. You only play one time, and you get tons of content.
