Planetside! Woot! Best ever MMOFPS. I'd recommend it to anyone. Hopefully, the developers will make a free trial period again soon so we can all go on it for free again. It's awesome and one of it's kind in the world right now. I'd give it a try if you're into shooters and online multiplayers.

i think guild wars has to be one of the best mmo's... its got amazing graphics, a good story line... and best of all there is no monthly fee!!! It is easily a rival to WoW!!! Does anyone else play it???

Yeah. I am an ex-WoWer and I recently decided to pick up GW for some casual gaming with a few of my friends. Thank god it is free monthly -_- It was seriously generic, boring and the lack of community was just depressing. The game might as well be offline. It ISN'T an MMO and does not rival WoW in the slightest - there is a reason people are willing to pay for WoW, because that game is the alternative.

Does anybody know the game "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion"? If anybody knows, I would like to know your opinion about the game.

On a light note, this game isn't an MMO but its pretty good. I recommend Buying Morrowind though, the game before Oblivion. It offers a lot more in terms of gameplay and freedom and is also challenging.

Oblivion was just easy. The Lvl system where the lvl of the mob is dependent on your lvl pretty much makes the RPG aspect of the game pointless. I liked the game but I absolutely loved Morrowind. To be fair it would be hard to make another game on par with Morrowind, its just too insane.

Tbh, I've gotten over MMO's as of late, it's just a tad repetitive, without much of a goal.

Runescape is a good example.

ah but RS is a terrible MMO, I played it for a long time. Of course as with all of my accounts i got banned. I contacted the people at Jagex and they said it was because I had the word "poop" in my name. SO this being said RS is a game for the younger generation. Though it can be a guilty pleasure for late aged teens

I used to play it alot, and was heavily drawn into it, it got to the point where I'd stay up hours on end, just to try and reach this level, or fish for countless fish.

I played it, because it was free :D

Well, if you REALLY like MMORPG's, you should start playing Maple Story.

Its a 2D game, based on leveling, but its just way cooler
YES i played Runescape, but only for a month because it sucked
YES i played Rakion, But just for some days
YES i played Ghost Online, but just for 2 months, Maple Story is like GO, but WAYYY better
YES i played WoW, but just for like... 5 months, cuz it started to bore me

BUT Maple Story, ive been playin for 2 years now... its the best MMORPG ive ever played.
Search it on google, Youll love it.

2 Games to offer.

1) Shadowbane. (It's not letting me post links...So if you want to know the ONLY wat to download and play for free, PM me)

Shadowbane is an MMORPG. It plays kind of like WoW, except the graphics are still in beta. It has a cryptic/evil theme to it, and has lots of PvP and customizing. It's really worth a try it you can afford the graphics/space requirement.

Not sure how it qualifies as an MMORPG, but it does apparently...
Many people have seen this game before, be it ijji, korean on international. You kill people with sword/gun combinations, earn money, buy armour, do quests etc. Drawbacks were that you earned little money and leveled slow.

http://gunzonline.com - MMORPG game with guns and it is like being an action hero..graphics are good ... it has many great features like wall climbing and combination of swords and guns...the problem is that players have started to abuse bugs and made "K-Style" ... thats now used by pros and for beginners its hard until they learn it and it is pretty hard.

http://www.cabalonline.com - MMORPG great game ... some find it lame but i personally think that it rox ... great weapons, armors and it has amazing skills and graphics...even grinding is fun lol... not to mention pvp

World of Warcraft is the most popular MMO these days thats for sure... But you must admit it's good too... I however like Guild Wars, since I love PvP.

Anarchy Online is one of THE BEST MMO's I guess, simply because it has evolved allot and it has ALLOT of content too, and it's free too by now... Only problem with it is, that it's graphics is really out dated by now. BUT! I just read the other day, that they are working on it's new DX9 engine. There's even a video from it, looks pretty good. Was thinking about playing it once they update it.

There are many free MMO's out there too, Silk Road is one of the most popular ones, 9Dragons is great, especially if you like the Asian culture, 2Moons, Last Chaos is ok too. Just keep in mind that Free games are still lower budget productions. :)

Yes, I'd say Guild Wars, it has the best and most complex PvP/Skill system from all, but there are a few more good ones, like Dark Age of Camelot (pretty old but still good), City of Heroes (nice, especially if your bored with fantasy) and Fury (unreal engine 3 and PvP only).

It's strange that you call it casual gaming though. It's true, you don't have to play it as hard core as you have to play WoW "to get somewhere", but in order to get good in GW casual gaming isn't enough either, you have to play allot of PvP or even PvE to improve your own skill. It could be called casual gaming only because you can jump in for some short fun too, you don't always have to play for many hours at once like WoW sometimes, but it has such PvE maps too though.
As for the community, I wouldn't say at all that there's a lack for it. GW is really more about guilds, and not as much about random PUGs. It's even possible to make alliances with other guilds, max 10 guilds in one. If you were bored and had the feeling of playing an offline game, you probably weren't in a good or very active guild. I'v played Guild Wars for 2 years now, and only got bored with it recently, mostly because my guild got somewhat inactive too, and 2 years are a long time in any case. Still love to pop on for a few rounds in the Random or Team Arenas though. : )
But yes it's not REALLY an MMORPG like WoW is for example, I'd rather call it an MORPG myself. And still, more then 4 million people have bought it, and it's the second most popular MMORPG after WoW. But will see after GW2 comes out... ;)

LOTRO is a brilliant game.
WOW sounds like crap and probably is.
Guild Wars i have heard of it but i am not planing on playing it.
Warhammer is to evolved for my compy.

@Ellmano: It's true, you don't have to pay a monthly fee to play Guild Wars but to play the newest content you have to buy the latest "version" I think. So it's not 100% free :)

It's by no means better than wow, more of a well done clone tbh and grindfest. I played the Beta so it could've changed, but from what I played and saw they tried to make the quests more interesting than just the cliche 'go get 12 of these' but in the end it is simply the same.Decent graphics however.

For me the problem with MMO's is that monthly fee :( i currently play lord of the rings online, i love that game, and the monthly fee isn't to bad. but i want to play other MMO's. Maybe have another go on WoW, or go back and finish levelling my Black Mage on Final Fantasy online. but i just can't afford to play them all :(

Well shoot, how many free to play's have you tried? Perfect World is coming stateside with a newer english version. You should check it out. Completely free but not open yet. Beta starts next month but you can still get in. Perfect World International. (http://www.perfectworld.com)

I have a confession I am still a lover of Vampire : The Masquerade - Redemption despite being made in the mid nineties i think its an awesome game. The sequel was also good but rather rushed as a FPS. I am really looking forwards to The Old Republic, but am currently playing BiteFight a FREE PHP online RPG in which the war between Vampires and Werewolves has raged for centuries (or a few years at least). The game is awesome: simple to play yet highly addictive.
