Please help me I can't get orange box to play

I bought orange box and i installed it. after i did i went to play the game and it says cannot play without minimum directx 8.0 so i tried downloading that, and i tried downloading 9.0 and after i did it still said cannont play without minimum directx 8.0, so i'm pretty stuck here and i love tf2 and am really eager to play it so could anyone please help me out here. also whats the second disk for?

after downloading and installing dx9 did u reinstall orange box?, if u didnt try that

Also, make sure you meet the Recommended System Requirements (At least the Minimum Requirements) and make sure that your graphics card supports DX9 or DX8.

The second disk is supposed to be the rest of the games (Orange Box has HL2, HL2 EP1, HL2 EP2, TF2 and Portal. You didn't think it would all fit on one disk, did you ;))
