Yeah if anybody is still thinking about getting this game, they really should. Even though it doesn't have a storyline. It was actually never meant to have a storyline, it's just a game made for wasting some time, or playing online or at a LAN back in those days. THen engine is pretty good and with some customization it can support features like anti-aliasing.
You can still find some active modding communities for this game. If I remember correctly this was the first game I started doing mapping in, and my first idea was to make the map that plays in the beginning (opening scene) playable. Although when I did that I realised the map wasn't meant for playing, we still had fun in it.
There is some driver files that updates the game to support Directx 10. You can get that file here:
Unreal engine Direct3D 10 renderer - kentie.net
Although you have to update your directx drivers to the latest ones, otherwise it'll just give you a error when you try to run it and run it in Direct x 7 mode I believe.
You get a bunch of new graphics tweaks you can do for UT and it even supports some other classics FPS games such as Deus Ex.
Try it, it's worth it.
