    Guitar Hero 5

Like most people I do think "bleh" when it comes to the Guitar Hero series nowadays, but I must admit I freakin love Vicarious Visions, because they push the boundaries of the Wii and just keep on going. Thanks to Neversoft the core experience of World Tour was, at best, average, and VV's great efforts were not enough to improve the game. But if IGN's review is anything to go by, it looks like Neversoft haven't cocked up the main game this time (besides a plain setlist by the looks of things), and VV have put so much stuff into the game I was left genuinely shocked after reading it.

    http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/102/1020647p1.html

I still have my doubts, and will obviously reserve personal judgement until I've played it. When I first read about World Tour for the Wii, I was VERY excited. But I ended up disappointed after playing it. I'm a bit worried whether it will be a similar story when I pick up number 5, which I might just end up doing. Discuss.

I like real guitar, you know, with more than 5 buttons?

Mind you that 4 player dealio looked pretty intense.

Once you get into these forums more and get to know the people - you will learn that Patch is always deadly serious about what he says.

This version is the best gh for old classics, Hendrix, Beatles, The Stones, and lots of great metal songs and bands too,, probably the best song list I've sen in a while.

I was very dissapointed in the game. The set list was horrid, and there is nothing groundbreaking about the game at all. They easily could have just made it DLC.

NO NO NO. Comparison between fun video game and unrelated real life hobby = pointless. For shame Patch.

That's what I was worried hearing about. Disappointing setlist, and the option to import GHWT's disappointing setlist! Really on the fence now about whether to get it or not.

Better go play some Frets on Fire to calm down..........

    YES.

GH5 seems very highly recommended by IGN, especially for the Wii, but I just don't like the setlist.... The Beatles Rock Band on the other hand . Further than that, Frets on Fire has the best setlist known to man; whatever the hell you want it to be.

This is the easiest GH so far apparantly. Next to no complexity in any of the songs. I'm actually suprised that there isn't a Metallica song in there. Worst set list so far. I mean, Johnny Cash? Kurt Cobain? Kings of ****ing Leon? Come on Activision/Neversoft! Looks like they are just trying to make sales by putting stuff in which everyone has heard of instead of challenging songs. Guess I'll stick to Guitar Hero Metallica. Oh, and don't buy Guitar Hero Van Halen, only like 40 songs on there, so waste of money. DJ Hero? No thanks. Band Hero? What's the point? Drum Hero? Not too interested. Rock Band? Never liked the set lists, too many bands which no one has heard of. Frets on Fire? Have it, only have a few songs though, and it's buggy as hell...

    Damn music games!
Why do you long for games to be made with a focus on the gameplay? Do you expect movies to be made with a focus on moviewatch? Books should have good bookread? Meals should have good foodeat?

Hmm. Gamer Thing apparently despises Guitar Hero and yet he's the one starting the thread as soon as the IGN(orance) reviews are out. Ironic isn't it?

Here's an idea. How about when you get the game the game gives you about £40 to spend on songs and you buy the songs you want to play. So you're not forced to play the ****ty Coldplay and AFI songs.

Now with this game so far it's got the best interface and I like how you can have 4 guitarists or 4 drummers of whatever so people don't squable over who's forced to play bass. And the celeb apperance has so far been the best. This time I've managed to recognise everyone without going on Wikipedia.

Now I'll admit. The Guitar Hero's based on one band aren't brilliant because the songs aren't challenging. So base it on a band that is a challenge all the way through without putting in the bands no one really cares about. Guitar Hero: Rise Against and Guitar Hero: System of a Down spring into mind. But hey, as long as Guitar Hero: Dragonforce never sees the light of day I'm happy
