Fail to launch Call of Duty 5 : World at War!

    Hi everybody,

I have just finish install the call of duty 5 and when i run the game for the first time, the screen appear to be black for a while then jump out and show a message box "error during initialization, unhandle exception caught" and follow by another message box with something like "Error: Could not load material "water_droplet"." "Error: Could not load material "water_dynamic_spray"." "Waiting for $init to finish. There may be assets missing from code_post_gfx.". So what is possible cause? Is it my PC does not meet the minimum requirement?

    My PC spec:
    Intel core 2 duo 1.8GHz
    Intel D946GZIS motherboard
    1.5G of RAM
    512MB nVidia Geforce 6200 turbocache
    SigmaTel audio
    onboard sound card
    80GB HDD

This PC was able to run Need for Speed Undercover, Warcraft III and other game as well.

-=MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GAME=-

Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP or Windows Vista(R) (Windows 95/98/ME/2000 are unsupported)
    Microsoft DirectX(R) 9.0c (included)

    CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 3.0 GHz or AMD(R) Athlon(TM) 64 3200+ processor or better supported
RAM: 512MB RAM (1GB for Windows Vista)
    VIDEO CARD: 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) 6600GT or better or ATI Radeon(TM) 1600XT or better
SOUND CARD: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
HDD SPACE: 8GB of free hard drive space
HOSTING: To host Co-op or Multiplayer matches, a 2Ghz dual-core or better processor is recommended.
INTERNET: Broadband connection and service required for Multiplayer Connectivity
In order for the game to run, Windows Vista users will need to install the update for DirectX 9.0c that is included on the game disc.
This is necessary even if DirectX 10 is installed.

Is it possible my graphic card is a bit not compatible?
    Any suggestion will be appreciate

    Thanks...

    Posting this from another site:

    To remedy this problem click:
    Start>Control Panel>Sound

Right Click on the default playback device (e.g. Speakers) and click properties. From there select the Advanced tab.
To eliminate this error the default playback format must be set at 24 bit 48000Hz (Studio Quality). Simply select this from the dropdown list and apply the settings.

Try launching the game now-Everything should run fine.
There were some other solutions, here's the link - http://www.gamingnewslink.com/2008/1...lation-errors/

    Hi,

    Thanks for reply.

I was using windows xp and i was not able to find where to change the setting to 24 bit 48000Hz, and what i found in which i think is related is the tab shown in the picture below.

I think the step above is for windows vista, right? So how do i change this in windows xp? there is no "default playback device".

not sure what is the reason, when i click on the link for other solution, it will show "page load error", might the link not complete?

    Thanks.. : )

Try launching thje game into Safe Mode and reducing all the settings for standard.

    Then reboot.
