Thread: FPS lower than it should be.

  1. #1

FPS lower than it should be.

well, I got a new gaming computer a few months ago and it's not working as it should.
I hear from everyone else that my FPS is lower than it should. It's around 50 - 91. It stays at 91 most of the time, even if I lower the graphics too the lowest and all. What's wrong? My computer is better than all my friends comps, yet they have higher FPS.

    Specs:

motherboard: Biostar TP43D2-A7 Intel P43+ICH10 chipset
    Processor: Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz (4 CPUs) 8MB Socket 775
    RAM: Plazir/A-data 8GB DDR2 PC6400 (2GBx4)
    Graphicscard: Sparkle/Leadtek Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX 512MB GDDR3, TV-out, 2xDVI, PCIe
    harddrive: Samsung SpinPoint 1000GB S-ATA300 32Mb
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium, SP1

What's wrong? I know 91 FPS is nothing to whine about but I want my computer to perform as good as possible

I play COD4 if it helps..

EDIT: I got the game running on all 4 processors.

nice computer, how much did it cost?

and have you tried to see at what speed you are running it, because it may be running at around 20% when it has potential to run at 100%

Thnx to Boss for making this beastly sig

How do I see what speed it's running it on? im quite stupid when it comes too computers.

It was 10.000 swedish kr which is about.. uhm 1300 dollars

you do realise your screen cant even display 91 fps- 91 fps is NOT a problem. i get cod4 on full at 80 fps i think... but honestly, dont worry about 91- its not gonna go any faster

All my friends are running with like 120+, also when ppl discuss FPS on servers they usually say that 120 - 150 is normal

  6. #6
not a chance, most people are lucky for 60 fps. most monitors cant display more than 60-75...

Oh well, guess the guy who started the server discussions etc had a bad ass comp and screen.
    Thanks for your help.

is that 90fps on high settings?? if so then what the hell are u complaining for?? a 9800gtx is slightly more powerfull than a 8800gt so 90fps in COD4 can only be expected from that card

I'm not complaining. Read the entire post.

the point is your being misguided. 90 fps is still ridiculous and doubtless your monitor cant give you more than 75 anyway... in fact press something like right click on desktop, properties, go to display settings, click monitor and have a look at refresh rate- thats your maximum true fps
