Dragonlance, Godspeaker, The Night Angel.
Also Battle Vixens, Pita-ten.
Post your favourite book series.
Mine is Harry Potter, but it might change to Percy Jackson since it is getting quite good.

Am working my way through the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. About 21 (I think) in the series. I first started reading them in the 70's and enjoyed the fantasy world he created. But in the last six months I discovered that he (Terry Brooks) had written a whole series covering the history of the world and its rise and fall.
It is obvious that from the start his writing style has matured and become more personal and I like that. The series I am on at the moment is based after the end of the world as we know it and is in Seattle so not far from where I live and I know some of the locations he mentions.
Another series I have read is the complete works of Sir Arthur Conen Doyle and his character Sherlock Holmes. I read the entire set of books and memoirs (not sure how many stories he has written... maybe 30 covered in about 10 books) and all in their original written English of around 1900 England. Great read indeed.
The lord of the rings by far
especially with the Silmarillion and unfinished tales
call me old fasioned but my favorite series is The Lord of The Rings series. i have not yet read the silmarillion or unfinished tales.

The silmarillion is great I recommend it to all fans of the LOTR books. It's like the bible of middle earth, it's made of many stories from the beginning of the universe to the lord of the rings story
Unfinished tales is good to, it contains many conversations between the characters of the lord of the rings which where left out of the books
there's a lot of reference in the books to legends and past events, all those stories and more are in the silmarillion and reading the unfinished tales after the lord of the rings gives the reader a better understanding of many things in the books. Both are must read books for the LOTR fans
Juggler is right, the Shannara series is good. It's a lot like LOTR in the first 2 or 3 books(maybe too much) but it gets more original after that

Harry Potter for me
Although, If it hadn't been for all the internet discussions, guesses, analysis etc. I doubt I would have enjoyed them quite as much.
cool... do you know the name of the series or book?
I always tough it would be cool to join the two stories. LOTR is like what happened before our era and Shannara is what will happen after the apocalypse.
the way life appeared and humans replaced the world of magic in the Shannara story is very similar to the LOTR lore. Do they refer to the LOTR has an ancient book of lore or something like that?
