so i got AVP when it 1st come out played it loads of players and games online then my 9800GT went caput =( just got me a new GTS250 and it takes a very long time to find a game and even then theres only like 3 players =S has ever one stoped playing or is it just me? LOL

Yes. Your graphics card has no effect whatsoever on matchmaking. A more obvious thing to check would be your internet connection.
i knew it wasnt the graphics card but as for the internet connection Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life TDM all work fine get a game right away with LOADS of players, so i just might be that theres no one playing AVP =( could it be that theres 2 map packs out and i dont own then?

I don't even want to begin pointing out how many immature mistakes you made there. But uh. Hardly anyone plays it. It's considered a "new" release, yet hardly anyone touches it, doesn't that tell you something? Other games that released years ago still find games easily because they're popular, and actually did things right. AVP was churned out without very much thought behind it. It has some interesting modes, but nothing to keep you playing for a long time.
