I'd agree with this, Witcher 3 is the one for me and MGS5 was wicked. Have yet to play Fallout 4 but heard good things so no surprise there!

I think I must have missed something with MGS, I really didn't rate it. Felt so 'un-MGS'

The Witcher 3 was the big one for me as well.

I loved the procedural aspect to monster hunting and the way that the social element of the game was so robust. BioWare are very good at this too, but in Mass Effect 3 all of the companion interaction scenes - like the sniping contest in the Citadel - were five minute vignettes. Still mostly awesome, but CD Projekt didn't hold back and were not afraid to keep you from fighting for extended periods.

I also liked The Phantom Pain. It didn't feel like MGS, but that was a good thing for me as it felt more like Alpha Protocol... just a lot more mechanically sound and with more freedom. To be given some tools and an objective, and left alone to work out how to meet it yourself, is truly one of the great pleasures of gaming.

The State of Decay re-release, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and Rare Replay were also strong contenders. I was let down by Fallout 4, but still enjoyed it.

I thought Fallout was alright but I never been a big fan of the fallout games. I think Witcher 3 puts every other open world game to shame tbh, they seemed to put a lot more effort into meaningless side quests than anyone else and it really did feel like you were playing in a living world.

I've only just started Metal Gear Solid V so don't really have an opinion on that, it is also the first MGS I've played so I'm probably missing a lot of backstory.

My personal top 3 would be Witcher 3, Life is Strange and Until Dawn.

Oh my god Vix, you MUST! It's honestly one of the best games I have ever played. It's more of less a perfect RPG in my opinion.
